I’m just a girl with a stack of filled journals

I started journaling when I decided I wanted to prioritize my mental health and create more happiness in my life. It started with daily gratitude entries like 3 things I’m grateful for, 3 things I love about myself, 3 things I’m looking forward to and 3 daily mantras. Though that period of journaling was beneficial, it felt more like a mandatory daily performative act. It was just another task I needed to check off in my strict morning routine to validate my ~healthy, spiritual~ persona. We all start somewhere. Through my mindfulness and personal journey, my journaling turned more into a mixture of gratitude journaling and whatever stream of consciousness that was flowing through my mind.

Most of these posts are taken straight from my journal. All of the posts are authentic to me. They are real and raw and not fabricated in hopes to be perceived any sort of way. This blog is my outlet, it’s my connection to myself, it’s my vehicle to make sense of life. I have no agenda beyond sharing my streams of consciousness.  If you find you relate or you can apply pieces of my ramblings to your life, cool that’s a fun added bonus.

The name “container of thoughts” comes from Mooji, a Jamaican spiritual leader. I came across Mooji’s guided meditations on Youtube a few years ago and was immediately drawn to his soothing voice and insightful one liners. In one of the meditations he tells us that we are not a container of thoughts, and instead we should let our thoughts pass through, not latching onto them. While agree that we should not let our thoughts rule us or bog down our minds, I also believe it is important to capture them, record them and chew on where they’re arising from. Which is why I have a stack of filled journals, and now hopefully a filled blog. So, thank you for taking the time to peruse this container of my thoughts.
